Legendary nightlife, crystal coves and a bohemian spirit unlike anywhere in Europe
Ibiza has a split personality that makes it uniquely compelling. On one hand, it is home to the world's most famous clubs — Pacha, Amnesia, Ushuaïa — and a summer music festival scene that defines global electronic music culture. On the other, it is an island of extraordinary natural beauty: secret coves accessible only by sea, pine-scented hills dotted with farmhouses converted into boutique hotels, and a UNESCO-listed old town, Dalt Vila, whose ramparts date to the Phoenicians. The key is knowing when and where to go — the north of the island, around Santa Gertrudis and San Juan, operates in a different, quieter register entirely.
When to go: May and June offer warm weather and a relaxed atmosphere before peak season. September is arguably the best month.
